Vestavia Hills Mural Trail

The Vestavia Hills Mural Trail was launched in the fall of 2023 as a project by a Leadership Vestavia Hills group. Their mission was to initiate an ongoing effort to enhance the city with vibrant public art through murals.

The first two murals were completed in the fall of 2024. They can be found at Drew Carter State Farm on Rocky Ridge Road and Save-A-Life on McGuire Road.

If you’re interested in sponsoring or facilitating a mural, Leadership Vestavia Hills recommends the following steps:

  1. Find a Location: Collaborate with local business owners to secure a space for the mural.
  2. Create the Artwork: Work with local artists to design a mural that aligns with both your vision and the business owner’s goals. For artist recommendations, you can contact vhcartscouncil@gmail.com
  3. Submit for Approval: Present your mural design to the City of Vestavia Hills Design Review Board. The board meets monthly and requires that designs be submitted at least two weeks prior to the meeting for approval.
  4. Fundraise: The costs associated with a mural include paying an artist for the design, purchasing materials, and paying an artist to install the mural.

Mural designs cannot include words, as the purpose of the mural trail is to beautify the city, not to serve as advertising.
